Summer Reading Program- This summer, Frenchtown students going into grades K-8 are invited to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a program designed to promote reading and help to prevent learning loss over the summer months. Scholastic is hoping that kids from across the country can break last summer’s world record of reading for 176,438,473 minutes. We believe that this is possible!
Each student has been assigned a special username and password. You and your child can go to http://www.scholastic.com/summer to log in the number of minutes read. Minutes can also be recorded on paper. The more time spent reading, the closer we get to breaking a world record! We have also provided a booklist for each student. These books are recommended by Scholastic, but you are certainly not limited to these titles.
The PTO has graciously offered to support our endeavor by purchasing books for students to borrow. They have set up a schedule of book pick up/drop off days at school throughout the summer. The days are as follows:
Please be advised that the schedule is subject to change. For updates, please visit the PTO’s website at www.fespto.org. The two students who have logged in the most minutes from each class will receive special recognition. We hope that you enjoy your summer. Happy Reading!
Books Available- A list of the books available for exchange will be posted shortly. If your child wishes to read a book on the list but cannot make the book exchange, drop us a note at email@example.com and we will make an attempt to get it to you.
